Running on 4th of July

...and not talking about USA Independence Day, but Happy Independence Day to all Americans. I am blogging about the 34th Milo Marathon, and it's a national event. The Manila Elims happened on July 4. It's the first time I joined a marathon race, and I ran 5k. Did I prepare for this? hmm, a tad, since I'm doing my 30 mins of cardio exercise 2x a week in the gym. I wanted to win; I even told my friends I wanted to win. When I was running and saw other runners ahead of me... uggh! too many runners; I have no chance to qualify even in the top 10. Anyway, got to finish this, and when I was near the finish line and saw the time 45:03... In my mind, "Ohh yes! Malapit na. Kaya mo pa yan, Heidi. :P" I finish 5k in 45:30. NOT BAD, huh. The event took place, and all runners gathered in Quirino Grandstand, and to record, the Milo organizers have raised above 2M pesos, yehey!

I got home exhausted with sore muscles and painful legs, but all was paid off, for many children will be given pairs of shoes.
Awesome experience.
Kudos to the MILO team, sponsors, and all runners.

btw, my learnings if I wanted to break my own record:

- Never wear a double shirt under a sando.

- Never wear jogging pants or pedal-type jogging pants
...in short, wear proper running attire and let the air come in and out of you.

Flores de Mayo

Glad we rode Jeep instead of bus; otherwise, we will miss these beauties. In these photos are beauty queens, previous and current title holders of Bb. Pilipinas Universe, Bb. Pilipinas World, and Bb. Pilipinas International. Nina Ricci Alagao Melody Gersbach Anna Theresa Licaros Czarina Catherine Gatbonton Helen Nicolette Henson Carlene Aguilar Gloria Diaz - Miss Universe 1969 Venus Raj - Miss Universe 2010 4th Runner-Up Btw, Flores de Mayo is a Catholic festival (tradition) held in the Philippines in the month of May. It lasts for a month and is held in honor of the Virgin Mary. The Santa Cruzan is a parade held on the last day of Flores de Mayo in honor of Reyna Elena.   credit: Wikipedia
